How to Open a Stuck Jar Lid?

Have you ever came across a situation where you bought a jar a sauce for your spaghetti or you simply want to open it to dip it with your delicious potato chips but it doesn't wants to open!  No worries, Household tips is here for you!

Are you ready for moments like these? Here are five techniques to show off your man skills and open a stuck jar lid every time.
1. Brute force. This technique simply requires you to use your manly strength to twist open the jar lid. You get extra points if you do it without the assistance of a rag.
2. Wrap the lid in a dish towel or rubber glove. If brute force doesn’t work, give your self some extra traction by wrapping the lid in dish rag, or better yet, a rubber glove.
3. Break the vacuum seal. If the bottle is new and still vacuumed sealed, breaking the seal makes the lid easier to open. You can do this by using a bottle opener and pulling the lid away from the jar.
4. Run the lid under hot water. Running the lid under hot water for a minute will cause the metal to expand so the lid comes off more easily.
5. Heat up the lid with your stove. This method is proven to work as well but requires extra attention as you may hurt yourself in the process. Use a rag to wrap around the jar and slightly heat up the lid in a circular motion for 5 seconds as this will cause the metal to expand as well.
6. Tap the lid with a spoon. Sometimes food gets stuck in the lid which in turn causes the lid to get stuck. Give the lid a few strong quick taps on the side with a spoon in order to dislodge any food.
With all that, your sauce awaits you to lavish yourself in a sumptuous meal!

Hate the ants? Read this post

Do you encounter ant problems at home? After leaving your food on the table for less than half an hour, the troop of ants come marching in, and it is a headache to think of the ways to get rid of these ants. Here's a suggestion, and it really works, Star Anise' extracts can be found in many of the pest control items.

Place a couple of star anise in a bowl, or a container, do not cover them, and the smell is oblivious to human beings, but it wards of the ants. You can leave the bowls there overnight, and change them every 2-3 weeks, by observing the ant visits. If it is relatively serious, put a little more sets at different places where the ants are being spotted, if the situation turns better, just change the star anise every 2-3 weeks.

These star anise will ward of the ants. This is definitely one of the cheapest and cost-effective way of getting rids of pests!

Strawberry and Banana Trifle

Valentine’s Day is around the corner. Having the intention of preparing a simple yet affordable dessert (with less than $15) for your other half to show your sincerity for this special occasion?

Household Tips and Tricks is here for your saviour!! As we believe that trifles have got to be the easiest desserts to put together, and the cheapest. It also looks very impressive, until you serve it at least.

Ingredients needed:

Quick look (Directions):

Let’s get started!!

Let’s start by cutting the strawberries, bananas and pound cakes into slices!

*Do make sure that the pound cake is all cut equally of the same size! A small lil cube will look just right and fine!”

Starting the layers

First, to place the cubed pound cake in a simple trifle bowl/ or a serving bowl.

Next, it is to add a layer of bananas, followed by a layer of whipped cream, and lastly strawberries. Simple as it is? You’ll just have to repeat the steps till it’s full!
 REALLY THAT SIMPLE!!

Making the layers was the most fun! The team liked arranging the fruit to make it look nice and pretty on the outside, but really on the inside it was just a glob of fruits and cake. Even though it may not look pretty on the inside, the flavors blend together nicely and it is a light dessert after a heavy meal.

We can’t say much more about trifles, because they really are that easy and completely customizable!

And… it’s ready for consumption! Nom nom nom!!

Once it's served, it doesn't matter what it looks like!
This is one of those desserts that are nearly impossible to mess up. With it you can impress friends, family, or neighbours with just 20-30 minutes to put it together.

*Note: If you’re a chocolaty person, why not change a few things about this recipe. Instead of using pound cake like we do, why not prepare it with chocolate chip cookies? And probably, to add some chocolate sauce (from Hershey), after the layer of whipped cream?? Sounds yummy??  Why not try it on your own now?! ;)

Get rid of bad odour in your fridge FAST!

If you have tons of food in your fridge, it's really easy for the fridge to emit an odour sooner or later. It can be disgusting especially if you just want to take your drink and you have to smell that all the time, which can spoil appetites as well.

The solution? Extremely easy and convenient: Baking soda. Buy any regular baking soda, pour it out into an open bowl or plate (doesn't have to be big), or simply tear the top off the box itself, and place it in the fridge!

What it does is that it absorbs the odour from the fridge and it'll smell pristine in no time! A simple picture shall do the trick:

500 grams of chocolate buttons
* tips! get the chocolates which are easy to melt*

A little bit of rainbow sprinkles for the decoration :)

The shapers for making the cute shapes of the chocolipop :)

Some satay sticks

First of all, you have to melt the chocolate on mild fire.

Keep stirring the chocolate so that it will not stick to the pot :)

This is how your chocolate should look like after it melts :)
It will melt in less than 3 minutes!

Next, place your shapers on a flat plate, then, use a spoon to put the melted chocolate into the shaper.

After putting the chocolate, sprinkle some rainbow sprinkles over the chocolate to decorate it.

After this, put it into the fridge, and let it freeze back. After which, remove the shapers.

Stick the satay stick at the bottom of the chocolate.
